PL Daily: one Premier League draft a day, the same for everyone

PL Daily is the shared puzzle at the centre of Perfect Eleven. Once a day, every player in the world gets the same twelve spins of the Premier League wheel, in the same order: eleven players and a manager. You get one attempt to build the best side you can from them, and then everyone’s result can be compared on one board, because nobody had a different draw. It is free, it needs no account, and on the homepage it is the card marked as today’s main event.

The rules

Same twelve spins for everyone. The wheel is seeded by the date, so the clubs come up in the same order for every player that day.
One attempt a day. A new Daily starts at midnight Eastern. Once you finish, it stays locked until then.
No skips and no swaps. Every spin is a pick: a player for an open slot, or that club’s manager if you have not taken one yet. Each club gives you one pick, and a placed player cannot be removed.
No injuries. The open draft modes can roll knocks at the final whistle. PL Daily does not, so two identical drafts always get the same rating.
Same ratings for everyone. Player ratings follow real Premier League form, updated once a day and pinned for the whole day, so everyone playing the same Daily drafts from the same numbers. If that day’s form cannot load, the Daily asks you to try again rather than let you play on different numbers.
Leave halfway and it waits for you until the Daily changes at midnight. Tap PL Daily again and you pick up where you left off.

How it is scored

PL Daily runs on the same engine as the paid Premier League XI draft. A player goes straight into one of his natural slots when one is open. If none is, but his line still has an open slot, you choose where he plays out of position: one point off for a related role, two for anything else (any outfielder in goal, for example). A player with no natural slot open and no open slot on his line is locked and cannot be picked. Chemistry comes from compatriots: each player earns a point for every teammate of the same nationality, up to three, and your manager adds a small bonus. Your team rating is the average of your eleven, lifted by chemistry, and the result screen projects where that side would finish in a 38-game season, from 1st to 20th.

Expert mode is optional. Switch it on before your first pick and the ratings stay hidden until the final reveal; an Expert entry’s board score is your rating multiplied by 1.10. The switch locks once you place a player.

Post your eleven with a display name and it goes on the PL DAILY board, which shows the day’s entries. The board takes the first entry posted under each name each day, so a replay in a private window cannot sneak in a second score.

Streaks

Finish on consecutive days and your streak grows by one each day; miss a day and it starts again at 1. Every daily you finish counts toward the same streak, but only once per day. Season pass holders get one streak freeze a month, which covers a single missed day. The streak is kept in your browser, and your share text shows it once it passes one day.

A worked example

A week of PL Daily, without the pass:

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: you finish all three. Your streak reads 3.
Thursday: you miss it.
Friday: you finish again. The streak starts over at 1.

With the season pass, the same Friday reads 4: the freeze covers Thursday, and it is then spent until next month. Now the last spin of one of those days. Say you have your manager and ten players, and only the goalkeeper slot is open. The wheel only deals a club with a player who fits an open slot, so spin twelve lands on a club that has a keeper. Every outfielder there is locked, because no slot on his line is open, so you must take one of that club’s keepers, however he is rated. In Premier League XI you could skip that spin. In PL Daily you cannot, which is why the order you fill your slots matters as much as who you take.
