Every player in Perfect Eleven carries one overall rating on a 40–99 scale. The same number decides how strong your drafted XI is, orders the player rankings, and — averaged over a club’s best eleven — sets the club power rankings. This page explains where those numbers come from, in full.
They are editorial ratings, not a statistical model
The ratings are our judgement of each player’s overall quality for the 2026-27 season. They are not calculated from a formula of goals, assists or minutes, and they do not come from any official source or video game. Nothing on this site should be read as claiming otherwise; if you find a page that does, tell us and we will correct it.
How the current ratings were set
- July 2026 — every squad, player by player. All 20 Premier League squads were rated in July 2026. The first full draft of those ratings was produced with AI assistance and then reviewed and corrected by hand. The World Cup archive keeps its own, separate ratings, so a player who appears in both can carry a different number in each.
- Promoted clubs. Once the three promoted squads were in, the existing ratings for Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City were lowered by a flat amount — six, five and four points respectively, with a floor of 60 — so that newly promoted sides sit below established Premier League clubs rather than level with them. Because the cut was flat, it did not change the order of players within each squad.
- Reviewed as squads change. Transfers and loans are applied from the official Fantasy Premier League data, and new arrivals are reviewed by hand. In late July, 76 summer signings were reviewed in a single pass — rating, nationality and position.
New signings: provisional ratings
When a player joins a Premier League club, our squad update adds him straight away so he can be drafted, with a provisional rating estimated from his Fantasy Premier League price: 69 at a price of £4.0m, plus about 2.4 points for every additional £1m, and never below 68 or above 94. That estimate stands until the player is reviewed by hand. Price is a rough guide to quality, which is exactly why it is only provisional.
Squad strength and power rankings
A club’s squad strength is the average rating of its eleven highest-rated players. The club power rankings order all 20 clubs by that number, and set it against their position in the real table — which is where it gets interesting, because a squad’s rating does not move with results.
Managers
Managers carry their own editorial rating, plus a weekly form adjustment between −3 and +3 that moves with results. The manager rankings order them by the two together. In the game, the manager you draft adds a small chemistry bonus that grows with that combined rating.
What this means when you play
Everyone drafts from the same ratings, and in the daily modes everyone gets the same spins, so the ratings are a level playing field even where you would have rated a player differently. There are currently 536 rated Premier League players; the 50 highest-rated and the position rankings show them all.
