Brentford is the highest-rated club on the wheel that cannot hand you a star. The ceiling is 81, and the column that decides most drafts — players rated 82 or above — reads 0 here against Arsenal's 18. Only the three clubs at the foot of the power table are as bare at the top, and Brentford outrank all of them, on a power rating of 79, fourteenth, level with Fulham and Sunderland. Both of those clubs can at least sell you a name; Sunderland's best is 85. What Brentford offer instead is evenness — a best-XI spread of 4, the flattest in the game alongside Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Newcastle — so no spin here can wreck your side either.

Two players share that ceiling: Caoimhín Kelleher at 81 in goal and Mikkel Damsgaard at 81 in attacking midfield. Take Damsgaard. An equal rating in the position that shapes possession beats one in the position that touches the ball least, and goalkeeper is the slot you can fill from almost anywhere else on the wheel. Nathan Collins at 80 is the fallback if your back line is the emergency, but note what the wheel takes back with the other hand: Collins and Kelleher are the only two Irishmen in the squad, the best defender and the best goalkeeper at the club, and one spin lets you keep exactly one of them. England is the biggest bloc here at 6 players out of 28, and the pick of them is Jaidon Anthony at 79 on the left wing, useful and unspectacular and gettable a lot later than this.

The depth that means anything sits at centre back, the one department where a bad spin still leaves you a usable body: Nathan Collins first, then Kristoffer Ajer at 77 and Sepp van den Berg at 77. Everything else thins out quickly. Left back is the weakest department at the club, three of them averaging 74, and central midfield is the trap: five bodies, an average of 75, and a ceiling of 76 that will not start in anybody's XI. Land Brentford late with a hole in the middle of the park and the wheel has effectively skipped your turn.

The one spin here that changes the shape of a side is the legends board. Ivan Toney at 92 was a genuine centre forward, and Brentford's strikers now top out at Igor Thiago on 78, so Toney is not an upgrade so much as a different category of player.
