Premier League Gameweek 6 Review: Every Result & Team of the Week

Gameweek 6 produced 36 goals, the most of any round so far this season, and the result that mattered most was at Anfield. Manchester City won 3–0 at Liverpool, who had been unbeaten and also had Gravenberch sent off, to make it six wins from six. Arsenal beat Leeds 2–1, Leeds’ first defeat, and stay three points behind. Chelsea scored five against Bournemouth to end a run of three games without a win, and Coventry put four past Newcastle for a second straight victory. Fulham, beaten 2–1 at Ipswich, are bottom; they, Tottenham and Bournemouth are still waiting for a first win. We did not publish scoreline predictions for this round, so there is no scorecard this week.

The Team of the Week

The highest-scoring eleven of Gameweek 6 by FPL points, in a 3-5-2. Player of the Week: Henderson (Chelsea, 18 points). Manager of the Week: Xabi Alonso (Chelsea). How the XI is picked.

No club has more than two players in it, which is what 36 goals spread across ten matches looks like. Chelsea’s 5–1 brought Henderson, the Player of the Week, João Pedro and Manager of the Week Xabi Alonso; City’s win at Anfield brought Doku and Cherki, who both scored. Ipswich’s two are both defenders, O’Shea and Ouattara, and both scored in the 2–1 against Fulham. Brighton’s clean sheet at Sunderland put Verbruggen in goal and De Cuyper, who scored, at the back for the second time in three rounds. Coventry won by three goals and are in it once, through Cherif, with a goal and an assist. Arsenal won and have nobody in it.

The standout performers

By FPL points, the players who did most in Gameweek 6:

  • Henderson (MID, CHE) — 18 points, 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 bonus
  • De Cuyper (DEF, BHA) — 15 points, 1 goal, 3 bonus
  • Dewsbury-Hall (MID, EVE) — 13 points, 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 bonus
  • João Pedro (FWD, CHE) — 12 points, 2 goals, 2 bonus
  • Cherif (FWD, COV) — 12 points, 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 bonus
  • Doku (MID, MCI) — 12 points, 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 bonus

Henderson’s 18 points are the highest score of the round: two goals, an assist and three bonus points in the 5–1 against Bournemouth. Chelsea had scored ten in their first five games and had not won in three; here five went in, João Pedro also scoring twice and Palmer setting up two. Doku is the other number worth a look. His 12 points — a goal, an assist and three bonus — came in 34 minutes on the pitch at Anfield. For Bournemouth the defeat was a sixth game without a win, and the five conceded took their total to 13.
