Premier League Gameweek 7 Review: Every Result & Team of the Week

Gameweek 7 ended the last winless runs in the league. Fulham beat Hull 1–0, Bournemouth beat Sunderland 2–0 and Tottenham beat Coventry 3–1 on Monday, so all 20 clubs have now won a game. At the top nothing moved: Manchester City beat Ipswich 3–2 for seven wins from seven, and Arsenal won 1–0 at Nottingham Forest to stay three behind. What did change is that City are now the only unbeaten club. Brentford lost 2–1 at home to Liverpool and had two players sent off, and Everton lost 2–0 at home to Chelsea. Brighton’s 5–0 against Crystal Palace was the biggest win of the round. There were 26 goals, and we did not publish scoreline predictions for this round, so there is no scorecard this week.

The Team of the Week

The highest-scoring eleven of Gameweek 7 by FPL points, in a 3-4-3. Player of the Week: Neto (Chelsea, 15 points). Manager of the Week: Fabian Hürzeler (Brighton). How the XI is picked.

Brighton’s 5–0 supplies four of the eleven — Vuskovic and Boscagli at the back, Ayari in midfield and Kostoulas up front — and Hürzeler is Manager of the Week for the second time in four rounds. All four had a hand in the goals: Ayari and Kostoulas each scored one and set one up, and both defenders provided an assist. Chelsea’s clean sheet at Everton brought Neto, the Player of the Week, and Hato, who set up one of his two goals. Raya, after a clean sheet at Forest, is Arsenal’s only player, as he was in Gameweek 4, and Haaland is City’s. Manzambi makes his second eleven in three rounds after scoring the only goal at Newcastle.

The standout performers

By FPL points, the players who did most in Gameweek 7:

  • Neto (MID, CHE) — 15 points, 2 goals, 3 bonus
  • Haaland (FWD, MCI) — 13 points, 2 goals, 3 bonus
  • Ayari (MID, BHA) — 13 points, 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 bonus
  • Evanilson (FWD, BOU) — 12 points, 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 bonus
  • Kostoulas (FWD, BHA) — 12 points, 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 bonus
  • Iwobi (MID, FUL) — 11 points, 1 goal, 3 bonus

Neto’s 15 points came from both goals in Chelsea’s 2–0 at Everton, a clean sheet over the full 90 minutes and three bonus points. Everton had not lost in their first six games; that run ended with him. It is Chelsea’s second win in a row after three without one, seven goals scored across the two, and it took them from sixth to fourth. Haaland, with two against Ipswich, was the only other player to score twice this round.
